Urban Agriculture in Arlington

COVID-19 has impacted nearly every aspect of life, including our hobbies. Nationwide, gardening centers have seen their busiest seasons on record as individuals strive to test their green thumbs.

In this episode of Ballstonconnect, we learn how to bring nature closer to home with urban agriculture. Tina Leone, the CEO of the Ballston BID discusses the joys and uses of urban agriculture with Emily Landsman, the Communications Director of Arlington Friends of Urban Agriculture. This relatively new nonprofit has made it their mission to introduce Arlington to the benefits of growing our own food, and how this can contribute to a healthier and more sustainable society.

Find out the psychological benefits of gardening, how to start growing your own victory garden, and how you can support FOUA’s vision.

Urban agriculture is all about connection to food and the people who grow it. For this reason, Friends of Urban Agriculture supports the local farmers markets in the region. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, some markets may be operating differently this season. Visit here to see which markets are operating, and the precautions they are taking to keep you healthy.
