Join the Ballston BID and Mastercard for a cheerFULL evening of food, drink, and performances by the Arlington Children’s Chorus and Kara & Matty D for the lighting of the Ballston Singing Tree at Welburn Square.

Enjoy specialty drinks from our pop-up Jingle Bar, food available from Ballston favorite We the Pizza, music from DJ Touch Basis, and live music performances by the Arlington Children’s Chorus and Kara & Matty D as we light Ballston’s interactive Singing Tree for the first year.

The Ballston Singing Tree is an artistic, interactive, sound-responsive lighting system on the central tree in Welburn Square.

Sponsored by Mastercard and custom-crafted for Ballston by Canadian software developer, Limbic Media, the tree features 1,200 lights on 12 strands draped across the tree. Microphones capture audio input from the environment around the system, which interprets that data into colors and patters to display throughout the tree.

Ballston’s Singing Tree will become an annual program, and will run from mid-December through the new year.

This event is free and open to the public.
