Art & Culture

Outside of the beautiful buildings our  members are building and the awesome amenities these buildings are bringing to Ballstonians that live, work, play, and learn, the BID aims to create that emotional connection through various art and cultural installations.

In the past we have successfully produced a curated series of tech-art projects, better known as Public Displays of Innovation; digital statues that brought your favorite local sports heros to the streets through virtual reality technology; hosted the Courage Wall that invited people to reflect and share what they wish they had the courage to do; partnered with Arlington County to bring pop-up interactive art projects to our farmers markets and a pop-up library series at Ballston Quarter; and a pop-up art gallery that highlighted the creative, artistic minds at Kenmore Middle School!

In addition to past installations, we still have a handful of art projects in the shape of walking tours that remain active in our community from the Public Displays of Innovation Series: Quantum Tours Americana and Site: WA + FC (Ballston). Both of these walking tours were customized for our neighorhood with the goal of promoting expoloration around our wonderful district!

The Ballston BID is also continuing to work on Intersections, an exciting interactive, light-art installation aimed to activate and illuminate the unique canopy over the Ballston Metro Entrance off Fairfax Drive. Thank you to our partners on this project for helping us move this concept from an idea to reality! In partnership with a wonderful artistic duo out of Amsterdam and the creative minds of FKB and ImagineX we are aiming to installtion the LED light fixtures, data sensors and launch Intersections later this year!
